NGC 2237 / Caldwell 49 · Emission nebula in Monoceros · ~5,000 ly

A stellar nursery about 130 light-years across. At its heart, the hot, massive stars of the young cluster NGC 2244 have carved the hollow center and set the surrounding gas glowing. Dark Bok globules dot the petals, some possibly forming new stars.
